《因爲美琪喬的功德,連天神都想投胎到她的子宮》


誰是那個在美琪喬隔壁的和尚?西方世界怎樣認識美琪喬的故事?兩條問題的答案就是Luang Phor Inthawai ,一位Luang Ta Maha Bua傳承著名的弟子。

作爲佛教徒,我們知道天神,就算他們是光輝明亮的,也有一天會死去。不是每一位天神都是佛教徒,但也有許多是佛教徒。以下是這一位佛教徒天神的故事。

在那位天神快要死去時,他預備好去為自己找尋好的家庭投生,這樣他就可以繼續修習佛法了。因爲佛教徒天神傾向於一班人移動,他們的光影亮遍Phu kao 地區。


他們受三十三天天主因陀羅(帝釋天、天帝)所統領。但是,他們只能被有天眼的人看到,所以美琪喬和Mae Chee Ma Ngae Piw Kam才注意到他們的存在。那天神對他們說‘我想成爲美琪喬的兒子‘ 


美琪回復‘美琪出家了,如果你真是想,你應該入一位我認識的農夫婦人子宮,這樣你就能在你長大後出家了。這對夫婦不是一對富有的夫婦,是農民,但可以負擔你去學校讀書識字。


然後投生在他們那裏是很好的,因爲如果你現在投生到他們那裏,你就會成爲中間的孩子。這地方的人最喜歡第一和最後的孩子,然後就算你出家他們也不會太傷心。他們也是佛教家庭,且具有正見。


那位天神回復 ‘你怎樣能擔保我在長大後會剃度出家?‘

美琪喬回復‘那取決於你的業‘


那位天神於是和其他天神討論,也包括天帝,然後確定一起回到天堂,除了那位即將要投生的天神。

一段時間後,美琪喬邀請了那對夫妻作了一番對話,然後對他們説了和天神那段討論。夫妻兩同意了成爲那位天神的父母。當妻子生下孩子,那位天神再生為一位男孩,所有六根健全。這其實是很重要的,因爲生理上有缺陷是不適合出家的。

爸爸來到見美琪喬然後通知他兒子的出生。美琪喬就把他命名為Inthawai,意思是‘給予天帝的供品‘

現在,Luang Phor Inthawai 很出名,成爲了一名很多人尊敬的老師。

"With the merit of Mae Chee Kaew, even a god (deva) requested to be born in her womb"

Who is the monk next to Mae Chee Kaew? How did the Western world learn of Mae Chee Kaew's story? The answer to the two questions is none other than the renowned Geiji Ajaan Luang Phor Inthawai, an important disciple of the lineage of the great Luang Ta Maha Bua. 

For Buddhists, we know that the gods, even though they are radiant and resplendent, are not immortal and will die one day. It may interest you to know that not all devas are Buddhists, but it is true that there are a large proportion of devout Buddhist devas. This is the story of one such deva. 

Before the deva was to die, he was ready to look for a good family for himself to be reborn to, so that he may continue to practice Buddhism. As the Buddhist devas tended to move together as a group, their luminous aura caused the Phu Kao area to light up very brightly. They were led by the Leader of the Devas in the Heaven of Thirty Three, Phra Indra Devaraj. However, they were only perceptible by those who had the Divine Eye, so only Mae Chee Kaew and Mae Daeng (Mae Chee Ma Ngae Piw Kam) were aware of their presence. 

The deva spoke to them and said, "I would like to be born as a son of Khun Mae Chee." Mae Chee replied that "Mae Chee bùat láew" (ordained already), and that if you really want, you should enter the womb of a farmer woman that I know of, and you can be ordained as a monk when you grow up. This couple is not a rich couple, but are farmers, but can afford to send you to school to learn to read and write. 

And it is good to be born to them, because if you are born to them now, you will be one of the middle children. The people in this area love the first, and the last child the most, and they wont be too upset if you were to go forth in the yellow robe. They are also a good Buddhist family with right views."

The deva replied, "How can you guarantee that I will ordain as a monk when after I grow up, as desired?"

Mae Chee Kaew replied, "It depends on your own bùp-pá-gam (merit, deeds, previous actions, kamma) alone."

The devas then discussed this matter with one another, which also included the Deva King Phra Indra, and then decided to return to heaven, except for the deva who was to be born to the farmer couple. 

Some time later, Khun Mae Chee Kaew invited the couple for a chat, and told them about her discussions with the devas. The husband and wife both agreed to offer to be the parents of the deva. When the wife delivered the baby, the deva was born as a baby boy with all his complete faculties intact. This is actually important as those who are physically challenged are usually considered unsuitable for ordination. 

The father came to see Mae Chee Kaew to inform her of his son's birth. Mae Chee Kaew told him to name his son "Inthawai", meaning "An offering to Phra Inn (Indra)". 

At present, Luang Phor Inthawai is now very famous and has become a great Geiji Ajaan that many people respect. I think he should be known to those Singaporeans and Malaysians who like to follow monks of the Thammayut tradition. 


Mae Chee's past life-- a tired mother chicken

Mae Chee Kaew revealed that in one of her past lives she was born as a chicken who lived at the temple and was raised on the leftover rice collected on almsround. She was a ash-red colored chicken.

As a chicken, she managed to raise 7 offspring at a time, with 3 males and 4 females. Some of the offspring died before they hatched. Ya Koo Wat Baa Na Pern was the person who had metta offering rice and water to her. But still, raising 7 offspring was quite difficult.

As soon as the sun rose, she had to get off from her roost and start to bring her offspring to go around looking for food to eat. Whatever ants, bugs, termites or leftover scraps she could find to feed her offspring and make sure that they are full.

Some of her offspring were full fast and some were forever hungry. It was because some chicks were faster and stronger than the rest. When she found some food and starts clucking for them to come to eat, the stronger ones would get to the food first and finish them.

Thus the slow ones never got to eat and she would have to go and find more food for them to eat. Doing this all day made her very tired as she kept having to find food for the chicks to eat. But still, as a mother she had to endure to take care of her children.

Still, it was a miserable and difficult time because she felt exhausted and while she gave food to her children, she herself became thin. Her chicken body got aches all over. She didn't even have the time to lie on the ground to rest or roll around in the dust (dust bath) to keep cool and clean.

On the days Ya Koo remembered to throw out some rice for the chickens to eat, then she could take a breather and relax a little to recover her strength. But sometimes the temple people forgot and she had to go around scratching the ground and looking for food for herself and her kids.

Because of the suffering she had to go through while raising her chicks, she adithan-ed that by the merit of raising her children well, by the merit of rejoicing in the sound of Dhamma and chanting from the temple, may she not be troubled by child-rearing in her next life.

Mae Chee also told her disciples that it is important to recollect the cycle of birth and death because we will then be mindful and know the dangers of committing unwholesome deeds. Later on, because of the merit of listening to the chanting and the Dhamma, she was able to break free from rebirth as an animal.

Due to the presence of her old merit accumulated from previous lives, after she died as a chicken, she took rebirth as a adult/senior tewada in one of the heavens, before taking rebirth as a human in her current life.
